Hold Me As I Dream

Sleep I'll never escape
Yet tonight I'm so afraid
To look into my mind
Past memories forever played

Dreams take my breath
As I wake in cold sweats
Dreams make me angry
Bring back long regrets

My eyes slowly closing
My strength all but gone
Sleep won't stop coming
Creeps closer every yawn

Tears held back knowing
Hardships to come again
Inevitably sleep will come
The torment to begin

Someone hold me please
Alone here I lay
Darkness steals the light
Dreams float my way

Sins cover my soul
Shameful as can be
Past to present darkening
Even God can't look at me

Sleep now taken hold
But I can't scream
Someone hold my hand
Hold me as I dream
